Most of them were ok films. I wasn’t too disappointed spending hundreds of minutes watching them—so, no regrets.
First up was Locked. Have you seen this one? It stars Sir Anthony Hopkins and Bill Skarsgård. The story kicks off with a guy who’s seriously down bad—he’s struggling to pick up his daughter from school by 2:15 p.m., which turns out to be a major plot point.
From the jump, you see him desperate to get his car out of the shop, hustling for just enough to make things work. But even in all that, he’s got pride. He doesn’t see himself as someone you can just drop a dollar on like he’s begging. He sees his life very differently than everyone else does. From the outside? He looks like a drifter with no direction—just out here looking for wallets, not work. No labor pool, no job hunt, nothing.
What really pushes him over the edge is when he gets this scratch-off ticket, doesn’t bother checking it, and instead decides to steal a car in what’s basically a suicide mission. Turns out (a little too late, of course) that ticket was a winner. Enough to get his car back. Whyyyy Eddie?!
Eddie (played by Skarsgård) sets his eyes on this futuristic ride that looks like a Cadillac at first, but—hold up—it might actually be a Chrysler? It’s a car called Dolus, powered by AI and way too advanced to be sitting out unattended. Turns out it belongs to William (Hopkins), who’s dying of cancer and out for revenge. He blames guys like Eddie for the loss of his daughter, Emma, and he’s taken justice into his own hands… using the car as a literal trap.
So now Eddie’s stuck inside a tricked-out car designed to kill. Where this movie goes from here? You really don’t know. But it ends on a semi-hopeful note. Eddie survives. William? Not so much. Eddie gets his own car out of the garage and finally bikes it to his daughter’s school—at exactly 2:15 p.m.
And that’s all she wrote.
Overall? Meh. It was alright. Didn’t walk away from it thinking, “Now that was a good movie.” It was just… a moment.
Have you seen Locked? If so, what did you think? Drop a comment—I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Until next time—movie buffs, where y’all at?
